The Lodge

Horstad Gård has a rich history that stretches all the way back to 1611. Earlier history suggests viking settlements all along the river valley which is full of remains. Horstad was also the birth place of the polar explorer Otto Sverdrup of the Fritjiof Nansen expeditions. In the late 18-hundreds and early 19-hundreds it was owned by british salmon fishermen such as Lionel Knight Rice.  The Lodge is situated just a 5 minute walk from the river and the lower beats are accessed by foot.

Inside Horstad Lodge

Horstad have been carefully renovated to keep its historic apperance with, among other things, old wallpaintings depicting fishermen in top hats. We have 13 traditional rooms with 25 beds.
